1. Luke 9:53 A typical case of discrimination (compare John 4:9). The Jews called the Samaritans “half-breeds,” so the Samaritans naturally hated the Jews.
2. Luke 9:55 Later manuscripts add to vv. 55-56, “And Jesus said, ‘You don’t realize what your hearts are like. For the Son of Man has not come to destroy men’s lives, but to save them.’”
